Capacitor code calculator

Decode a 3-digit code into pF, nF and µF.

  • Instant

  • Private (processed locally)
  • No sign-up

ℹ️ Reading: first 2 digits = value, 3rd = number of zeros, in picofarads (pF). E.g. 104 = 10 + 4 zeros = 100,000 pF = 100 nF = 0.1 µF. An “R” marks the decimal point (4R7 = 4.7 pF). 100% local.

Decode a capacitor

Enter the printed code (e.g. 104): the tool shows the capacitance in pF, nF and µF.

Frequently asked questions

How to read the code?

The first 2 digits are the value, the 3rd the number of zeros, in pF. 104 = 10 followed by 4 zeros = 100,000 pF.

What does “R” mean?

It marks the decimal point: 4R7 = 4.7 pF, R47 = 0.47 pF.

And the tolerance letter?

A trailing letter (J = ±5%, K = ±10%, M = ±20%) gives the tolerance; it does not change the nominal value.
