Compress your images with no software

A smartphone photo often weighs several megabytes. That is too heavy for a website, an attachment or a quick send. This compressor reduces the size of your JPG, PNG and WebP images in seconds, while preserving high visual quality — and with nothing to install.

How to compress an image

  1. Import your image

Drag and drop a file or click to select it (JPG, PNG or WebP).

  2. Adjust the settings

Choose the output format, the quality, and optionally a maximum width.

  3. Download the result

Compare the before/after size and download the optimized image in one click.

Local: no image sent to a server

Converting a JPEG photo to WebP at equivalent quality commonly yields a size reduction of 50 to 80%. By also reducing the width (for example to 1920 px for web use), the gain is even greater.

Privacy: your images stay with you

Unlike most online compressors that upload your files to their servers, this tool works entirely in your browser thanks to the Canvas API. Your photos never leave your device. It is safer, and also faster since there is no upload.

When to compress your images

  • For a website or blog: lighter images improve loading speed and SEO.
  • Before sending by email: respect attachment size limits.
  • To free up storage space on your device or cloud.

Frequently asked questions

Does compression degrade image quality?

In JPEG and WebP, compression is “lossy”: details barely visible to the eye are removed. At a quality of 75–85%, the size reduction is significant while the visual difference stays imperceptible. PNG, on the other hand, is lossless but compresses less.

Which format should I choose: JPG, PNG or WebP?

WebP offers the best quality-to-size ratio and suits almost everything. JPEG remains ideal for photos. PNG should be reserved for images needing transparency or lossless rendering (logos, screenshots with crisp text).

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No, never. Processing uses your browser’s Canvas technology: the image is decoded, redrawn and re-encoded locally. No file leaves your device, which guarantees privacy, even for sensitive documents.

Why reduce the size of my images?

Lighter images speed up your web pages (better SEO and experience), reduce storage space and make it easier to send by email or messaging, which often limit attachment size.

Can I also resize the image?

Yes. Enter a maximum width in pixels: the image will be scaled down proportionally if it is wider, further reducing its size. Leave the field empty to keep the original dimensions.
