Calculate volumetric weight
Enter the length, width, height (in cm), the divisor and the actual weight: the tool shows the chargeable weight the carrier uses.
Key points
- Volumetric weight = L × W × H ÷ divisor
- Common divisors: 5000, 6000, 4000
- Chargeable weight = the greater of the two
- Optimize packaging to cut volume
Example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 40 × 30 × 20 cm |
| Divisor | 5000 |
| Volumetric weight | 4.8 kg |
| Actual weight | 3 kg |
| Chargeable weight | 4.8 kg |

Frequently asked questions
What is volumetric weight?
A “theoretical” weight based on the parcel volume, so bulky but light items are billed fairly.
How is it computed?
Volumetric weight = (length × width × height in cm) ÷ divisor. The common divisor is 5000 (express) or 6000.
What is chargeable weight?
The greater of actual and volumetric weight: that is what the carrier bills.
Which divisor should I use?
It depends on the carrier and service. Check your contract: 5000, 6000 and 4000 are the most common.
