Estimate wallpaper for a room

Enter the wall perimeter, the height and the roll dimensions. The tool computes how many rolls to buy, rounding up.

  1. Measure the perimeter

Walk around the room in meters.

  2. Enter the height

    Floor to ceiling.

  3. Read the rolls

    Result + strips needed.

The method

  • Strips/roll = length ÷ height
  • Strips needed = perimeter ÷ width
  • Rolls = strips needed ÷ strips/roll
  • Suggested margin: +1 roll

Example

InputValue
Perimeter16 m
Height2.5 m
Roll0.53 × 10 m
Rolls≈ 8

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the number of rolls?

Strips per roll = roll length ÷ height. Strips needed = perimeter ÷ roll width. Rolls = strips needed ÷ strips per roll (rounded up).

What are the standard dimensions?

A classic roll is often 0.53 m wide by 10 m long. Check your product, some vary.

Should I account for pattern repeat?

Yes: paper with a pattern repeat uses more. This tool excludes the repeat — add 1 roll of margin.

What about doors and windows?

The calculation does not subtract openings, which leaves a natural margin useful for offcuts and touch-ups.
