Frequently asked questions
What is the EyeDropper API?
It is a browser feature that activates a dropper to pick the color of any pixel on screen, even outside the page. It is supported by Chrome and Edge; elsewhere the button is hidden and you can pick from an imported image.
How do I pick a color from an image?
Import the image, then click it: the color of the pixel under the cursor is read and shown in hex and RGB. Great for grabbing a precise shade from a logo, a screenshot or a photo.
What is the history for?
Each picked color is added to a list of swatches. Click one to show it again, or click the hex/RGB code to copy it. Handy for building a small palette as you pick.
Are my images sent online?
No. The image is drawn on a local canvas and read pixel by pixel in your browser. The screen eyedropper also works without any data transmission.
