Estimate the filament cost
Enter the part weight, the spool price and its total weight: the tool gives the filament cost and the cost per kilo.
The method
- Cost = (part weight ÷ spool weight) × price
- Cost per kg = price ÷ spool weight × 1000
- Part weight comes from the slicer
- Add electricity with the dedicated tool
Example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Part weight | 25 g |
| Spool | 1000 g |
| Spool price | 25 |
| Filament cost | ≈ 0.63 |

Frequently asked questions
How is the cost calculated?
Cost = (part weight ÷ spool weight) × spool price. E.g. 25 g on a 1000 g spool at 25 → 0.63.
How do I know my part’s weight?
Your slicer (Cura, PrusaSlicer…) shows the estimated filament weight, or weigh the part.
Does the cost include electricity?
No, only filament. Use the “3D print cost” tool to add electricity.
Which currency is used?
The currency follows the site language (€, $, etc.); enter the price in that currency.
