Estimate a print’s weight
Enter the model volume, the infill and the material: the tool estimates the filament weight and approximate length.
The method
- Weight ≈ volume × (infill ÷ 100) × density
- PLA ≈ 1.24, ABS ≈ 1.04, PETG ≈ 1.27
- Simplified estimate (walls excluded)
- The slicer is the exact reference
Example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Volume | 20 cm³ |
| Infill | 20% |
| Material | PLA (1.24) |
| Estimated weight | ≈ 4.96 g |
Indicative estimate. 100% local calculation.
Frequently asked questions
How is weight estimated?
Weight ≈ volume × (infill ÷ 100) × density. E.g. 20 cm³ × 20% × 1.24 ≈ 4.96 g.
Why “estimate”?
The simplified formula ignores walls and solid top/bottom: the real weight is a bit higher.
Where do I find the model volume?
In your slicer or 3D software (often shown in cm³ or mm³).
Which material to pick?
Select PLA, ABS, PETG… density directly changes the weight.
