Frequently asked questions
What value for each letter?
A=1, B=2 … I=9, then J=1, K=2 … and so on (the value cycles 1 to 9).
How do you reduce?
Add all the letter values, then reduce the sum to a single digit (11, 22, 33 kept).
Accents and spaces?
Accents are ignored (é → e) and only letters count; spaces and digits are dropped.
Is it reliable?
It is a symbolic pastime, with no scientific basis.
