Frequently asked questions
What is the formula to add tax?
Total = net price × (1 + rate ÷ 100). The tax amount is net price × rate ÷ 100. Example: 100 + 20% = 120, of which 20 is tax.
How do I remove tax from a total?
Net price = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100). Example: 120 incl. tax at 20% gives 100 net and 20 tax.
Sales tax, VAT, GST: are they the same?
The math is identical: a percentage applied to a price. Only the name and rate change by country.
Is this tax advice?
